Germanwings feels the pressure: a week after the massacre of the Airbus A320, SocialChannel.it decided to open an investigation to see how the German airline changed the rates of their flight Barcelona-Düsseldorf. The prices have changed? The planes will be completely full? There will be no reservation?
Let’s say we want to fly away tomorrow: it’s difficult to even think of finding a free booking place, because the flight should already be full. On the other hand, we thought about the flight Barcelona-Hamburg, the destination in so much alike Düsseldorf (the distance and the same fuel consumption).
BARCELONA-DUSSELDORF. We want to fly from April 1 to 3; direct trip and we choose the smart prize: 210 €. From April 1 to April 5 for 2 hours and 30 minutes of flight you pay a total of 170 €: over half of the seats were still bookable. But why? Is this about the lack of requests for flight, or the waiver to move the passengers? It’s obvious that the prices look cheap!
BARCELONA-HAMBURG, strictly with Germanwings flight. From April 1 to 3, to go to Hamburg you will spend € 330 for 2 hours and 40 minutes to travel (similar path and that price is doubled compared to the previous route). From 1 to 5 instead descend to 250 €.
The particularly alarm concern the free seats on board: a total of 150 people on board, 2/3 remain empty. And it’s the same if we start one and go back 5, confirming that behind the collapse of reservations has also developed an incredible need to delete the fly by passengers.
Do you want to make a trip on Easter? From April 4 to 6, the flight costs € 383 and the plane is empty. It’s weird isn’t it? This particular fly has always been full, like it’s been demonstrated by the same Airbus A320 which interrupted his trip in the French Alps, with 150 passengers on board (including staff and crew).
Then we decided to make one more attempt: taking a range of period that goes from March 31 to April 13 we show you all the possible flights and the prices you can choose to travel from Barcelona to Dusseldorf. In those 14 days Germanwings offers the lowest price only 6 times (in the chart the column in green), once is Iberia, and the lowest costs are Vueling Airlines ones (for 7 times).
Germanwings didn’t lower the prices, and now they have to deal with deleted bookings and no new reservations.
